Kim PhilpottMaster Stylist
After developing a taste for the industry, she moved on to Polytech in 1999 for a pre apprentice course. With that under her belt, she took up her apprenticeship at the salon at 71 Rutland Street – before it was RU&CO, and even before it was Loaf! (Circle of Life stuff!)
Kim has always worked in Christchurch and, while she did a stint as a “mobile salon” while her children were young, she definitely prefers the environment and professionalism of being in a salon.
Kim loves that no two days at work are ever the same, meeting new people and having the ability to help people feel great about themselves, all while getting to express her creativity!
Always use a heat protector, it is to your hair what sunscreen is to your skin.
Netflix recommendation: Shameless, Derry Girls and Afterlife
Best movie of all time: Dirty Dancing
Person they would most like to have dinner with: Friends and family. If it was someone really impressive or famous I would definitely overthink it and be really awkward!
